The name might be slightly misleading, but one of the most popular German traditions celebrated world-wide, the Oktoberfest, actually begins in September and only lasts until the beginning of October.
READ TIME 4 MIN – That special time of the year is fast approaching: The Millenium Tree Christmas tree is glistening, the Thanksgiving Day Parade marches down Michigan Avenue, and the Christkindlmarket opens its doors once again for another season of Gluehwein, Bratwurst and holiday cheer. With over 25 years of history, the Christkindlmarket is a holiday staple in the Chicago area and will be returning this year with three locations across Chicago and the suburbs.
READ TIME 3 MIN – Our new mug design has been released! On Tuesday, November 1st, our 2022 Official Media Sponsor Chicago Star, presented the design of this year’s annual Christkindlmarket mug.
Our so-called “Dancing Mug” is inspired by the City of Chicago that has been celebrating the “Year of Dance” in 2022. When holding the mug, you’ll notice that it bends a little bit to one side, just as if it was dancing to the cheerful sounds of holiday music. This shape is absolutely unique and one that we have never had in previous years.
READ TIME 4 MIN – It’s official – The Christkindlmarket will be returning with 3 locations in 2022: Aurora, Chicago, and Wrigleyville! All of them will unite cherished European tradition with international flair and local charm, offering an authentic German-style holiday market experience. Visitors will be able to purchase the beloved souvenir mug and Christkindlmarket merchandise at all three admission-free locations! Even though all of the markets look the same with our signature red and white striped wooden booths, they each have their unique holiday atmosphere, vendors and live entertainment.

We are so close – we can almost taste the roasted nuts and see the red and white striped huts… wait… we really DO see the huts! That’s because we started building the market on Daley Plaza this morning!
