READ TIME 2 MIN – Welcome back! 24 weeks and counting until the Christkindlmarket opens for the 2022 season and we come together to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year! While we only had two Christkindlmarket locations in 2021, Chicago and Wrigleyville, you are in for a sweet holiday surprise this year: In 2022 we are back in the suburbs with the first Christkindlmarket ever in the City of Aurora!
Since we are already giddy with excitement for this brand-new location, let’s release the holiday spirit a little earlier this year and get some secret insights on what our new home looks like…
You might have already seen on our Christkindlmarket website that we will set up our beloved red and white striped wooden booths at RiverEdge Park. RiverEdge Park is a unique park along the Fox River in downtown Aurora, providing recreation and entertainment surrounded by pure nature. Can you already picture the smell of fresh pretzels and bratwurst, some cozy holiday music, and warm winter lights next to this beautiful river? Such a stunning setting!
All year long visitors can enjoy RiverEdge Park’s beauty during countless events like concerts, festivals, or firework shows. Upcoming events include the 24th Annual Blues in the Fox, one of the largest paid Blues Festivals in the Midwest from June 17 – 18, and Tedeschi Trucks Band featuring Los Lobos and Gabe Dixon on July 26. Moreover, on June 19, the City of Aurora is hosting Promenade in the Park in the very picturesque new riverfront promenade at the recently renovated Wilder Park.
However, not only RiverEdge Park but also Aurora itself offers several activities for the whole family. Have you been to the Paramount theatre yet? If not, June 4 presents a great opportunity to do so, when the a cappella group Straight No Chaser will move people with their captivating sound of nine unadulterated human voices. Or are you still looking for fun summer activities for your little ones? The Paramount School of Arts offers several kids classes, summer camps, and workshops for everyone who is as excited about dance, music, theater, and visual art as we are (or should we say as our Christkind is?…) Our little elves told us that the Christkind might use her next vacation and attend a few local events later on this year as well – how exciting!
