Christkindlmarket Chicago

Advent Calendar

In Germany, an Advent Calendar is a special calendar used to countdown or celebrate the days in anticipation of Christmas Eve. It begins on December 1, and it comes in all shapes and colors with "windows", of which there are 24: one for each day of December leading up to Christmas Eve. Consecutive doors are opened every day, always filled with candy or a cute poem to make the long wait for the Christkind more enjoyable, who visits children on Christmas Eve.

At the market we supersized the Advent Calendar! Stop by the Christkindlmarket Stage every day at 12 pm sharp starting on December 1st, where the Christkindlmarket Staff will hand out tickets for a chance to open the day's Advent Calendar window and win a prize. We look forward to seeing you there!
